One of the final training evolutions to becoming a Marine is something called The Crucible.

It’s about two-and-a-half days of continual tactical and leadership problem solving with minimal sleep and food and constant physical activity.

My Officer Candidate School (OCS) company’s Crucible started on Monday morning at 0100 (1am), and finished sometime around mid-day on Wednesday. During the entire event, we got to eat twice and slept a total of four hours.

By that third day, I understood that any crisis or discomfort is a matter of perception. Being in the middle of a crisis is uncomfortable.

Accept it.

Embrace it.

And your business will thrive.
