It’s the little things…

But “the basics” are not “little.”

In fact, basics are HUGE.

Just because something is simple, does not mean it is worth less than something that is complex.

A very long time ago, I worked for a Marine Major in Japan that introduced me to the importance of being brilliant in the basics.

The idea is that until you can consistently execute the basics of your individual tasks, you cannot effectively execute more complex things.

This applies to individual contributors AND teams.

Be brilliant in the basics, and everything else falls into place.
